Purple Dragon Workshops started because me and mum are arty and crafty.  (I’m Beth and my mum is Barbara.)

We like to create beautiful pieces of art, jewellery, textiles, things to be worn, things to hang on the wall, even things to go in your lunch box! This is why we have different ‘workshops’.

We became PDW in 2014 when we decided to merge our 2 separate businesses, so that we could try different media. Beth was ERA Jewellery, and my Barbara had CAT Design (mainly greetings cards.)

We are based in Kendal with the Lake District on our doorstep, being able to get out and about in such a gorgeous place can really be seen in our work. Also having Celtic roots filters through into many of our designs.

Barbara’s passion has always been making. Having studied art at school she came back to it later on (after having been an R.E. Teacher and bringing up Beth and her brother). When Beth was a teenager Barbara mainly drew and painted, then got into making cards, and most recently has always got a crochet hook to hand.

Beth has been making jewellery since she was 5 and received a BA(hons) 2:1 in Metalwork and Jewellery, from Sheffield Hallam in 2011. Although Beth mostly makes jewellery, she loves to have other projects on the go at the same time.
